Who

I've been working as a design professional for over 15 years. I began as an illustrator with a publishing company and started learning, hands-on, the ins and outs of design, illustration, and professional printing.

From there, I joined a direct marketing agency with a large, in-house printing facility and direct mail fulfillment center. In my new marketing focused position as an art director, I managed our Japanese marketing projects. This was a great opportunity to combine the "numbers" of marketing --- mailing list data, tests, response rate and conversion --- with the art and aesthetics of my previous training and experience to date. Also, the international exposure of Tokyo business travel and new clientele was a tremendous boon to me both professionally and personally.

After working in the print realm of design and marketing for about 6 years with a variety of companies and agencies, my attention was drawn to Silicon Valley as the internet was entering it's burgeoning commercial evolution. I jumped at the chance to learn all things web and was overjoyed to experience previously unknown levels of fluidity and quickness in marketing and media. Working in Silicon Valley vastly expanded my repertoire and added web design and contruction as well as e-mail marketing to my skills set. I was happily on board the core teams of two, successfully aquired start-ups.

What

Since those earlier years in the Valley, I've launched out on my own as a consultant. Based in Santa Cruz, I offer a wide range of design and marketing services. My primary focus is web presence, branding and identity as well as web maintenance. I help people put their best foot forward in the world of business. I keep their look and message polished, accurate and professional. I also help clients create e-mail marketing, enable sites with greater functionality like e-commerce stores. Why

I've always been a visual observer and have loved to draw since I could hold a pencil. I'm a creative thinker and, even though I entered college as a pre-med student, I can't imagine working outside of the design industry. Since my first design class, I was hooked on art, aesthetics, the psychology of color and balance. It's a wonderful task to create order and a sense of balance that just so happens to look great too.
